Our
Adirondack Hide-Away
Roughly 20 miles north of Wyndbourne and seated snugly on a slope in the
Adirondack foothills,
Juniper Cottage boasts a lake front view from its
great room. Fortyfive minutes from Saratoga Springs
and Lake George,
our seasonal, family friendly 'camp' has been rebuilt from the studs out.
Furnished with
nearly everything necessary for comfortable living, it is available
for rent by the week or month between mid-May
and mid-October (sometimes later, thanks to global warming).
There are woods to explore, a pristine and lovely Great Sacandaga Lake for swiming;
a picnic table and fire ring for toasting marshmallows or chasing the chill of mountain evenings are to be found on a lakeside bluff.

The great room, overlooking the lake, holds
several tables able to seat twelve easily.
From this vantage point, the full moon rises directly across the lake and, on calm nights creates a pale, fluid pathway across the water to our dock. Bright early mornings, a deep overhang from the roof protects
from the summer sun's full impact during the day.
A fully equipped kitchen (ours is a family that cooks!) has coffee makers,
food
processor, blender, new appliances and a view into a ferny
woodland floor
behind the cabin.

Living space can comfortably
seat eight. Nippy spring
and autumn evenings can be warmed by
the corner fieldstone fireplace.
Built in the 1920s
and one of four structures forming
the Juniper Cottage Resort, our camp was the dining room
and sleeping quarters.
While we rearranged walls to create
a utility room and enlarge living space, there remain 6
bedrooms (originally,
there were 10 tiny ones), plenty
of beds to house a large family or small family reunion.
As with Wyndbourne, Juniper
Cottage retains its period flavor
(except for the addition of more modern
appliances - but no dishwasher). There is no cable connection and
no TV (although wireless access is available for computer use) and most
of the time no cell signal, except for one tiny area in the south
east corner, if you can find it. We ask that our tenants be non-smoking; pets are permitted only very selectively and at an additional cost.
